No. We cannot ethically guarantee that every patient will achieve a specific EMSCULPT NEO result.
Use research to understand a range of possibilities
Study averages describe a group at a particular follow-up. They do not guarantee that an individual will experience the same change. The consultation connects your goal with the relevant evidence and an appropriate way to assess progress.
Muscle size, strength and everyday function: what do the measurements mean? · What Happens at a ¹EM Consultation? From Assessment to Treatment
People respond differently to treatment.
BUT
What ¹EM can do is make the process considerably more accountable.
We can:
assess whether you are a sensible candidate
establish a measurable baseline
personalise the program
track what is actually changing
review your response
discuss unexpected under-response
remain transparent about whether further treatment is worthwhile
That is a very different proposition from promising a result before we have even examined you.
Why can't anyone responsibly guarantee results?
EMSCULPT NEO produces a biological response.
And biological responses vary.
Two people receiving an identical treatment protocol may begin with different:
muscle mass
fat distribution
abdominal anatomy
BMI
activity levels
nutrition
age
hormones
genetics
metabolic circumstances
treatment goals
The amount of change that is visible can also differ from the amount measurable underneath the skin.
That is why quoting an average study result as though it were an individual guarantee is misleading.
What results have studies found?
A sham-controlled abdominal study involving 72 participants found average changes at three months of:
28.3% reduction in measured subcutaneous fat thickness
24.2% increase in rectus abdominis muscle thickness
The sham group did not demonstrate comparable significant changes.
The results remained present at six months.
Those are study averages.
They are not a promise that you personally will achieve 28.3% or 24.2%.
What about patient satisfaction?
Patient satisfaction is important because a technically measurable change that the patient does not value is not a particularly meaningful outcome.
In the same sham-controlled trial, approximately 94% of actively treated participants reported satisfaction with their results.
Other EMSCULPT NEO studies have also reported high satisfaction, although the evidence base has limitations and several investigators have relationships with the manufacturer.
At ¹EM, satisfaction matters, but it should be considered alongside objective measurement.
This is why ¹EM uses ShapeScale
Before-and-after photographs are useful.
They are also extremely easy to influence through:
lighting
posture
abdominal contraction
camera angle
distance
clothing
hydration
We prefer to add objective measurements.
¹EM uses ShapeScale 3D scanning where appropriate to capture a baseline and compare body shape and measurements throughout a program. The clinic's current model specifically incorporates baseline scanning, progression tracking and reassessment.
That lets us ask a much better question than:
"Do you think you look different?"
We can ask:
"What has actually changed since baseline?"
What if I don't seem to be responding?
Then we should examine why.
That might include reviewing:
whether enough treatment has been completed
treatment intensity and progression
the original treatment area
body-weight changes
nutrition
exercise
whether expectations were realistic
whether the visible concern is actually being driven by something EMSCULPT NEO can change
The wrong approach is blindly adding more sessions simply because the desired result has not appeared.
What does ¹EM consider a successful treatment?
Not simply completing the package.
A successful treatment should ideally involve some combination of:
measurable improvement
patient satisfaction
realistic achievement of the original goal
improved muscle condition or contour where relevant
a result the patient considers worthwhile
Treatment should be judged against the goal established at the beginning.
Can you guarantee that I will be satisfied?
No.
Patient satisfaction is subjective.
What we can do is reduce the chance of a mismatch by discussing expectations before treatment and tracking progress afterwards.
If someone's expectation is unrealistic from the outset, the right conversation may be to not proceed.
Frequently asked questions
Do most people get results?
Published clinical studies have demonstrated average changes in treated populations, but not every individual responds to the same extent.
Why does ¹EM use ShapeScale?
To create a more objective record of external body measurements and contour throughout the program rather than relying solely on photographs.
What if my scan changes but I don't like the visual result?
Your satisfaction still matters. A measurable change does not automatically mean your treatment goal has been achieved.
Can I see my progress during treatment?
Yes. Depending on your treatment plan, interval scanning can be used to compare your progress against baseline.
What ¹EM promises instead of a result guarantee
We would rather promise accountability than pretend we can promise biology.
We will assess.
We will measure.
We will track.
We will review.
And if your treatment response does not make sense, we want to know.
