Care starts with a conversation
If you receive home-care support and want to discuss bladder leakage, pelvic-floor concerns or muscle function, our team can explain the next step. 1EM at Next Practice Prahran works with My Home Care Choice (MHCC) and welcomes enquiries from people using other providers.
For eligible services approved in writing, we can bill your provider directly. If your provider confirms it will pay the full approved cost directly, you do not need to pay upfront for those specific sessions. We confirm the arrangement before you agree to proceed.
What happened to Home Care Packages?
Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care on 1 November 2025. You may still hear people refer to their “home care package”. Funding must meet the current programme rules and your assessed care needs; having a budget does not automatically cover a particular treatment.
How the pathway works
1. Get in touch.
Tell reception your provider’s name and what you would like help with. You do not need to send a detailed medical history in your first enquiry.
2. Clarify assessment and suitability.
Our team explains the appropriate assessment, appointment details and any assessment fee. A clinician considers your needs and suitable options; an enquiry does not commit you to a treatment course.
3. Confirm the service and funding.
With your consent, your care partner or coordinator can contact reception about the proposed service, frequency and start date. The team and provider confirm the quote, eligible service, care plan, available budget and written payment approval.
4. Arrange the approved care.
Once clinical and funding requirements are settled, we confirm the sessions and payment arrangement. A referral or enquiry alone is not a confirmed appointment or funding approval.
Will I have to pay anything?
That depends on the specific approval. No upfront payment applies to sessions your provider has approved in writing and agreed to pay for in full directly. It does not mean every service or related expense is free.
Before you decide, we clarify any assessment fee, participant contribution, unapproved or private sessions, and transport costs. Transport may require separate approval. Reception will confirm the applicable provider-specific quote; please do not estimate it from our retail prices or an advertised discount.
Are EMSELLA or EMSCULPT NEO automatically covered?
No. Clinical suitability and funding eligibility are separate. Your provider must check that the proposed service is eligible under the programme and appropriate for your assessed needs, care plan and budget. A referral, a doctor’s recommendation or provider approval cannot make an excluded service eligible.
An assessment may lead to other options, including pelvic-floor physiotherapy, exercise-based rehabilitation or further review. A device treatment or combined course is not suitable or necessary for everyone.
Does home-care funding mean treatment happens at home?
No. This pathway is for appointments at 1EM at Next Practice Prahran, 100 Greville Street, Prahran VIC 3181. Please discuss travel and any transport support with your care partner before booking.
Can family help, or can I enquire with another provider?
Yes. Family members and support people can help with an enquiry. We need the patient’s consent or appropriate representative authority before sharing personal health information.
You do not need to switch providers to enquire. With consent, your current care partner can contact us to discuss what is needed. Approval by My Home Care Choice does not automatically establish approval by another provider.
People living in retirement villages or independent living may receive Support at Home. Permanent residential aged care uses different arrangements; your residence or age alone does not establish funding eligibility.
