Consultation first. No upfront payment. Your consultation and screening assessment are complimentary. No payment is collected upfront or at your first visit. If you decide to proceed, payment is collected from your second visit onwards. Your treatment plan, inclusions, total cost and payment arrangements are explained before you agree to treatment. Your plan and total costs are agreed before treatment.
Choose a baseline that reflects the goal
For bladder symptoms, a symptom diary, leakage pattern and validated questionnaire can help describe the starting point. For muscle and contour goals, shape measurements, strength and functional tasks answer different questions. The appropriate measures depend on your plan and are discussed during assessment.
Measuring pelvic-floor progress: what is useful to track? · Muscle size, strength and everyday function: what do the measurements mean? · EMSELLA, pelvic-floor exercises and bladder training: how are they different?
What happens during a consultation at ¹EM?
Your first consultation is designed to answer three basic questions:
What are you trying to improve?
Is the treatment you are considering appropriate for you?
What would a realistic treatment plan look like?
It is not simply a sales appointment before treatment.
¹EM uses a structured, doctor-led approach so that treatment starts with understanding your goals, relevant medical history and baseline presentation.
If treatment appears appropriate, we can then explain the recommended program, timing, expected experience, cost and how progress can be assessed.
Do I need a consultation before treatment?
Yes. Suitability needs to be assessed before beginning an EMSculpt Neo or EMSELLA treatment program at ¹EM.
These technologies may be non-invasive, but that does not mean they are appropriate for everyone.
A consultation allows us to identify relevant medical considerations, understand your treatment goals and determine whether the proposed treatment makes sense for you.
It also gives you an opportunity to decide whether treatment makes sense to you.
There is no obligation to commit to a full program after attending your consultation.
What does the process look like from consultation to treatment?
The exact pathway varies slightly depending on why you are attending, but the general ¹EM process looks like this.
Step 1: Request a consultation
You contact ¹EM directly or complete the relevant online consultation form.
No referral is required.
You can start with:
or simply contact ¹EM if you are unsure which treatment is relevant.
Step 2: Tell us what you want help with
Before recommending anything, we need to understand the problem you are trying to solve.
For EMSculpt Neo, this might include:
body contouring
muscle definition
core conditioning
a particular treatment area
a functional or rehabilitation goal
difficulty making progress in a particular area despite training
For EMSELLA, the conversation may include concerns such as:
urinary leakage
urgency or frequency
pelvic floor weakness
postpartum pelvic health
pelvic or core support
men's pelvic health
pelvic strengthening following prostate treatment
You do not need to know the medical terminology.
Tell us what you are experiencing in your own words.
Step 3: Review your medical history and treatment suitability
Before treatment begins, relevant health information is reviewed.
This helps identify anything that could:
make treatment inappropriate
require additional clinical review
change the treatment plan
require clarification before proceeding
This part matters even when a treatment does not involve surgery, injections or anaesthesia.
Non-invasive still requires appropriate patient selection.
Step 4: Establish your baseline
The baseline assessment depends on the treatment.
For body recomposition programs, ¹EM may use ShapeScale 3D optical scanning to help document external body shape and measurements over time.
This gives us an objective starting point so future progress can be compared with baseline rather than relying entirely on memory, mirrors or photographs.
ShapeScale is used as a progress-tracking tool and not as a diagnostic test.
For pelvic health presentations, the baseline assessment instead focuses more heavily on symptoms, goals, medical context and the clinical reason for treatment.
Step 5: Discuss what treatment can and cannot realistically do
This is an important part of the appointment.
We will explain:
why a treatment may or may not be relevant
what the technology actually does
what you are likely to feel during treatment
what a typical program may involve
potential limitations
relevant precautions
how progress will be assessed
We would rather establish a realistic expectation before treatment than try to correct an unrealistic one afterwards.
Step 6: Build a treatment plan
If treatment is appropriate and you want to proceed, your recommended program is explained.
Depending on the treatment and your circumstances, this may include:
treatment area or areas
recommended number of sessions
frequency of treatment
treatment settings or progression
reassessment points
progress measurements
expected schedule
total treatment cost
payment options where applicable
You should understand the plan before committing to it.
Step 7: Decide whether you want to proceed
A consultation does not lock you into treatment.
You can ask questions, think about the recommendation and decide whether the proposed program suits you.
If something does not make sense, ask.
If your expectation is unlikely to be achieved with the treatment being considered, we would rather identify that during the consultation.
Step 8: Begin treatment
Once suitability has been confirmed and you decide to proceed, treatment can begin according to the agreed schedule.
How soon can I start treatment after the consultation?
Full treatment can begin once your screening assessment is complete, you are considered suitable, the treatment plan and applicable fees have been agreed, and an appropriate treatment appointment is available.
In some cases, an agreed treatment session may be able to take place on the same day as the consultation, subject to suitability and availability. This is separate from the complimentary consultation and screening assessment.
No payment is collected at the first visit, including if suitable, agreed treatment begins that day. Payment collection starts from your second visit onwards. Your treatment plan and full costs are agreed before treatment begins.
Following screening, a clinician may offer eligible patients a brief complimentary trial to assess treatment tolerability. This is not guaranteed and is not a full treatment session.
What is complimentary at the first visit?
¹EM offers a complimentary consultation and screening assessment.
This gives you an opportunity to discuss your goals or symptoms, ask questions, review relevant medical history and determine whether treatment may be suitable before deciding whether to proceed.
Following screening, a clinician may offer eligible patients a brief complimentary trial solely to assess treatment tolerability. This is offered at the clinician’s discretion, is not guaranteed and is not a full treatment session.
No payment is collected upfront or at your first visit. If you decide to proceed, payment is collected from your second visit onwards.
What happens during an EMSculpt Neo consultation?
An EMSculpt Neo consultation focuses on understanding both your goals and what is physically contributing to the area you want to change.
This may include:
your treatment goals
previous training or body-composition efforts
the area you want treated
relevant medical history
assessment of treatment suitability
discussion of muscle and localised fat
ShapeScale baseline measurement where appropriate
explanation of the proposed treatment program
discussion of realistic expectations
Treatment plans at ¹EM are personalised rather than simply selling isolated device sessions.
What happens during an EMSELLA consultation?
An EMSELLA consultation starts with understanding your symptoms and what you would like to improve.
This may include discussion of:
urinary symptoms
pelvic floor function
symptom duration
relevant medical and surgical history
pregnancy or postpartum context where relevant
men's pelvic health where relevant
previous treatments
treatment suitability
realistic treatment goals
Pelvic health symptoms can be personal.
You are encouraged to ask questions and tell us if there is something you would prefer to discuss directly with the doctor.
Will I speak with the doctor?
¹EM operates within a doctor-led clinical framework.
If you have a question that requires individual medical assessment or you specifically want to speak with Dr Emir, tell the team.
How long does treatment take once I start?
Most EMSculpt Neo and EMSELLA treatment sessions are approximately 30 minutes.
The overall duration of your program depends on the treatment plan recommended for you.
Your schedule will be explained before you commit to the program.
How do you know whether treatment is working?
This depends on what is being treated.
Progress may be assessed using a combination of:
your symptoms
functional change
clinical reassessment
objective measurements
ShapeScale 3D progress tracking where relevant
comparison with your original treatment goals
The objective is not simply to complete a predetermined number of appointments.
It is to understand what changed.
What if you decide I am not suitable?
Then we tell you.
A useful consultation does not have to end with a treatment sale.
If there is a reason treatment is inappropriate, requires further assessment or simply does not match what you are trying to achieve, that should be identified before you spend money on a program.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a consultation before EMSculpt Neo?
Yes. Treatment suitability is assessed before beginning a program at ¹EM.
Do I need a consultation before EMSELLA?
Yes. Your symptoms, goals and relevant medical history need to be understood before an appropriate plan can be recommended.
Can I have treatment on the same day as my consultation?
Sometimes. Once your screening assessment is complete and suitability has been confirmed, a paid full treatment session may be able to take place on the same day, depending on availability and the agreed treatment plan.
No payment is collected at the first visit. Payment collection begins from your second visit onwards if you proceed. A full treatment is still paid treatment under the agreed plan, rather than a complimentary full session.
This is separate from any brief complimentary tolerability trial that may be offered following screening. A brief trial is not guaranteed and is not a full treatment session.
How soon can I start after my consultation?
Treatment can begin once your assessment is complete, you are considered suitable and an appropriate appointment is available.
Do I have to buy a treatment package at the consultation?
No.
You should understand the recommendation, schedule and cost before deciding whether to proceed.
What should I bring to my consultation?
You generally do not need to bring anything unusual.
If you have medical information that you think could affect treatment suitability, you are welcome to bring it or mention it to the team.
What if I have questions after the consultation?
Contact the clinic. Questions can be answered by the team or escalated for clinical review where appropriate.
